3D time-of-flight (ToF) cameras illuminate an object or a scene with a modulated light source and observe the light reflected from the object. This is achieved via a laser diode illuminator and a receiver. The phase shift between the emitted light and reflected light is measured and translated to distance. This camera can measure an object’s distance by pixel unit.

Different Applications: Below is just a few applications targeted for potential Automotive Applications.

  1. Face Recognition: Works in different light environments. High-precision depth data with various filtering technology and strong sunlight robustness allow accurate face recognition in different environments. This ToF-based solution also minimizes the AP burden and helps the solution to be lighter and smaller. This solution provides higher than 98% of counting accuracy and it helps the store to manage its operation such as stock and employee management, sales statistics, etc.
  2. Virtual Touch: Instead of touching the screen, using Cube Eye ToF 3D camera combined with a partner’s virtual touch algorithm provides many more benefits to solution providers and customers. This virtual touch system works at any normal display and with more interaction with a user. This can reduce the total cost to own a touch system and also protect from any vandalism. The virtual touch solution is more fun, smarter, and cost-effective.
  3. Blind Spot Detection: Securing safety at a blind spot with Cube Eye when driving a bus with a detection rate of 98%.
  4. Obstacle Detection Full automated transport system is mandatory for an efficient production facility. LiDAR was one of the solutions however it was not widely used due to its high cost and unreliable performance. I. Cube settles these at once. The customer’s facility is running with no errors and optimized production schedule.
