Wireless Smart Vanity mirror for Automotive Plug& Play Applications

With vehicle interiors going through dramatic changes year on year Diamond Coatings can add features to long running designs to bring them into the 20th Century, by patterning coatings we can add mirror features along with simple non mechanical touch switches to turn on lights, dim & switch colors.

 

Design HMI though has done some research on how to add functional value to the Visor going forward and started with the Vanity Mirror and Lighting. The renderings below showcase the vision first for the Vanity Mirror w/Lighting and then more broadly for a Smart Vanity Mirror.

Wireless Visor Circuit Diagram

  1. Forward Voltage of the LEDs must be considered.
  2. 3V Coin Battery less the forward voltage of the Schottky Diode (0.5V) and LED should be around 500mV. Resistor values may need to change accordingly.
  3. Schottky diode provides minimum reverse battery protection in case the coin cell in installed incorrectly.
  4. Current of LEDs is assumed roughly 30mA each.
  5. Total current draw of ~120mA at operation.
  6. Microcontroller shall have adjustable time-out for battery life improvement and PWM control of LEDs for dimming.
  7. Switch Mechanism capacitive touch.
  8. Assumed the lamp is only activated when an electrical connection is established by opening the visor.
  9. ATTiny202 is a potential cost down replacement MCU.
