SCHOTT CONTURAN® DARO AR advantages:

  • Display and the Touch Screen and the CONTURAN glass are optically bonded together.325
  • Designed for higher performance & low finger print visibility.
  • Reduces reflection to < 1% and enhances the visible contrast of the display.
  • Reduces finger prints that are disturbing & highly reflective under sunlight.
  • Touch Displays look clean without overly visible finger-prints.
  • Designed to provide anti reflective <1% to suppress unwanted reflection.
  • Very high durability for touch applications.
  • Greatly reduces white out due to finger smudges.
  • Provides high quality touch screen display.
  • Cost target for 8” display.

Capacitive touch screens are getting more popular over resistive and may’ replace resistive on touch displays. Thus, the right stack up is very important.

Standard design is sensor laminated to cover lens and bonded to flexible printed circuit (FPC). Display sits under the touchscreen sensor and is usually separated by air gap or directly bonded. However, to reduce noise from projected capacitive touch display an additional ITO shield is laminated

between the display and sensor. An air-gap of < 0.5mm could also reduce noise.

Cover lens could be Glass, PMMA or others with special AR / Anti Smudge / Other coatings as required.

PMMA though cheaper that glass suffer from lower signal sensitivity and can also suffer from panel bonding concerns.

The sensors are built by sputtering ITO on glass or PET substrate and then etching away the circuit. It can be 2 layer or single layer design based on complexity.

Single layer sensor design reduces cost and improve yields as well as offer higher transmissivity but could be less accurate and limit finger touches.

The FPC connects the individual touch sense input / output to the controller located off the touch screen.

Technical Data for CONTURAN® DARO

  • Luminous reflectance < 1% (both side coated glass).
  • Luminous transmittance >97% (4mm Glass, depends on glass thickness of float glass).
  • Residual color: blue hue coating
  • Double side AR coated glass (adapted to current touch system, some systems require
  • single side coated only).
  • Mechanical tests see specification CONTURAN: Adhesion and abrasion.
  • Chemical properties: 21days NSS-Test (DIN EN ISO 9227), especially with anti-finger-print coatings), 24hrs CASS test (DIN EN ISO 9227).
  • Thermally tempered glass required for safety reason
  • Anti-finger-print coating with long term durability (no reapplication needed); suggest >90° contact angle with water after 50days NSS-Test (DIN EN ISO 9227).
  • Abrasion test acc. To DIN EN 60068-2-70 with synthetic sweat. („Abrex Test “).
  • Easy-to-clean properties: Clean-ability with standard glass cleaners, without abrasive
  • material!
