a). Display is connected upstream of the USB Media Hub:

  1. Display acts as the USB Host
  1. Allows data between a Personal Device (PD) attached to one of the downstream ports and the Display – for example, project a phone screen to the Display
  1. Downstream devices will charge in CDP (Charging Downstream Port) mode – USB84604 provides the battery charge profile
  1. It may be possible a second USB cable from the Display could plug into a downstream port of the USB Media Hub to charge the Display

 

b). USB Media Hub is stand-alone (without anything connected upstream)

  1. Downstream devices will charge in DCP (Dedicated Charge Port) mode
  1. USB84604 provides the DCP battery charge profiles such as BC1.2 DCP and Apple

c). Rear Seat System for iPad and Custom Display:

  1. Two Port Charger with data on one port.
  1. Allows for custom display and/or iPad interface.
  1. Signal integrity must be good or may need hub or PHY in display to boost

USB Smart Charging Power Delivery

stand-alone after-market or imbedded in application like car rear seats.

Key characteristics are:

  1. Module Designed with 4 USB ports.
  1. One port connected to 12v or home power supply.
  1. Two Type A and two Type C USB ports.
  1. For in car application power can be through dedicated 12v line embedded in seat or through power cord connected to rear seat power point.
  1. Type A and C USB ports to charge iPad and smart phone or charge & make smart phone the master and project on rear seat display.
