The 2015 Display Expo in San Jose was very educational for automotive and other applications. Advancements in OLED and other displays clearly are designed to greatly enhance user experience.

In addition there were presentations on capacitive and other touch inputs designed to be enablers for better touch display system design.

Clearview power™ Technology

  • Invisible: Up to 90% visible light transmitted; absorbs only ultraviolet and infrared
  • Efficient: Over 10% achievable; optimization is independent of transparency
  • Low cost: low-cost, non-toxic materials; industry standard deposition equipment
  • Thin and light: film is less than 1/1000th of a millimetre thick
  • Ubiquitous: ClearView Power™ can generate electricity on any surface or device without aesthetic impact

ClearView Power™: Ubiquitous Energy has redesigned the solar cell to selectively transmit light visible to the human eye while absorbing only the ultraviolet and infrared light and converting it into electricity. It is 387transparent solar technology, allowing any surface to convert ambient light into useful electricity without impacting the way it looks. Two thirds of the light available for energy harvesting is in the ultraviolet and the infrared, leading to practical efficiencies over 10% while maintaining up to 90% visible transparency. ClearView Power™ leverages Ubiquitous Energy’s technology and patent portfolio, including exclusive rights to award-winning technology developed by the company co-founders at MIT.

TRU VUE ENGINEERING OPTICS

Engineered Optics at Tru Vue utilize thin film technology to control the reflection and transmission of light, even restricting it to specific wavelengths. It is designed to minimize reflection and maximize transmittance for high-visibility displays.

 FLEXX TRANSPARENT CONDUCTIVE FILMS (TCF)

Low resistance, high transmission, flexibility, low cost FLEXX Transparent Conductive Films (TCF) are designed as enabling technology for touch technology application. It is designed for thin, lightweight and flexible devices 390with a large display that need superior optical performance and long battery life.

FLEXX Films use silver nanowire (AgNW) technology, which offers an combination of optical clarity, cost and durability, while removing brittleness. Films are designed for all touch panel sizes – projected capacitive touch panels that require lower sheet resistance.

FLEXX Films can achieve very low sheet resistances of 70 ohms/sq. and 60 ohms/sq. sheet resistance – superior alternative to ITO films. It also has 90% transmissivity which is better than ITO film.

391

FLEXX Films are highly flexible suited for curved, foldable and rollable devices. While indium tin oxide (ITO) films dramatically lose sheet resistance after a minimal number of bending cycles, our films maintain electrical performance after hundreds of thousands of bending cycles — minimizing manufacturing yield losses.
